SYNOPSIS: “Kneecap” is a dramatic comedy, written and directed by Rich Peppiatt, that follows the journey of the Northern Irish hip-hop trio of the same name, blending fiction with bursts of reality to tell the story of their rise to fame. The film features the group members playing themselves, alongside internationally acclaimed actor Michael Fassbender. Kneecap’s fierce and outspoken lyrics and their radical political stance have made this Gaelic-singing band known worldwide. The film, which spotlights them as protagonists, has captured international attention for its strength and quality, earning numerous nominations and awards from the Sundance Film Festival to the Galway Film Fleadh and the British Academy Film Awards. It offers a striking portrait of Northern Ireland amid political tensions, social unrest, Irish language activism and urban violence — a perspective rarely seen before.
