Description: In the Innu language – one of the North American native communities – neka means “mum”. This is the title of the 4-minute long film directed by Nemnemiss McKenzie, where we get an insight into the life of the Innu people, struggling to preserve their culture and to defeat a problem – consisting of discrimination, alcohol and drugs – that hits many members of their community. In “Neka”, all these elements are brought back by a letter written to a mother. After working as a teacher, Nemnemiss McKenzie continues supporting his community with the cinema.
