MICE (Basque Country)
Mice is the pseudonym behind which singer-songwriter Miren Narbaiza hides. An intimate place where she questions song form in order to experiment with her own vocals. The result is a handful of songs imbued with dark atmospheres and driven by sharp guitars. Seemingly caught between 80s post-punk and 90s indie rock, Mice releases the voice of her inner self in Euskara, her mother tongue.
SILVURDRONGUR (Faroe Islands)
Silvurdrongur’s sonic journey traverses the dark, alien landscapes of the Faroe Islands in an electro-acoustic collage of genres and themes. Silvurpláta, the artist’s debut album, has been recently released alongside the poetry collection Silvurbók and the short film 111 góðir. The impact of these works on the quiet and reassuring art scene of the Faroe Islands was as shattering as the reception was enthusiastic. A fairy tale in the enchanted world of the Faroese woods, narrated in one of Europe’s smallest languages.
TUMBE (Armân)
Tumbe are the spearhead of an important cultural awakening that is taking place around the Arumenian language and culture, which spread throughout the Balkans and stubbornly survived through the centuries. The mix of electro-acoustic instruments of this sextet produces a fresh and innovative sound that straddles jazz fusion and word music, where virtuoso Gypsy-Balkan melodies are combined with the ancestral sound of this neo-Latin language.
